Girl Scouts Shutterbug Junior Badge Digital Photography Program

In this 2 1/2 hour program, the Girl Scouts will learn the following:  

  • The differences between a film camera and a digital camera
  • The basic parts and operation of a digital camera
  • How an exposure is made when you take a picture
  • Common Digital Camera Modes
  • How the following elements affect the quality of an image:

             1. Light: Natural light/ambient versus flash
             2. Exposure: Aperture (f-stops), shutter speed, depth of field
             3. Composition: Rule of thirds, leading lines, framing, depth  

The girls will shoot images with our iPad Minis and then edit them using Adobe Light Room image-editing software. Participants will also make a digital photo project and receive one 4x6 print of their favorite edited image to take home.   We will provide a snack (popcorn) and drink (water and lemonade).   

What to bring: Allergy friendly snack. Notebook and pen/pencil

Participants are welcome to bring their own iPhone or iPad to share images. (The workshop is Mac-based, so it must be an Apple product.)

Cost: $25 per girl  Adults: Free (moms are welcome to stay and enjoy our lounge and coffee bar)       

 

Brownie Photography Fun Patch

In this 90-minute program, the Girl Scouts will learn the following:

  • The operation of an iPad Mini camera
  • Framing and composition
  • Focal points and subjects
  • Perspective and focus
  • The concepts of ‘light’ and ‘dark’ (exposure)

The girls will learn the basic elements of framing, composition, focal points, and subjects. Then they will apply their knowledge by shooting images with our iPad Minis. Participants will receive one 4x6 print of their favorite image to take home.

We will provide a snack (popcorn) and drink (water and lemonade).
